The Big Game of football (which shall not be named) is the one day of the year when companies pull out all the stops of both their creative agencies, as well as company ad budgets, to make an impression on customers. For Kia's 2013 ad, the timeless question asked by children, "Where do babies come from?" sets the stage for its one minute of Big Game fame. The answer, at least according to Kia, comes from the far-off realm of Babylandia.
Kia's ads during last year's big game featured the Optima SX Limited, set to the rockin' soundtrack of Mötley Crüe and and overdose of Mr. Sandman's dream dust. How Kia's products will specifically be showcased in this year's ad is yet to be seen, but this year's star promises to be the 2014 Sorento SUV, which received a comprehensive redesign for the new model year, and a more advanced UVO system.
Volkswagen went with a more esoteric theme this year with its "Happy" ad featuring Jamaican reggae/folk hero Jimmy Cliff, and a variety of angry or upset viral video stars off YouTube. The tagline at the end of the nearly two-minute-long preview video promises another treat come game day, but no Volkswagen products are shown in the preview video.
