Kia Amanti Replacement Revealed, Called Kia Cadenza

Kia unveiled its VG concept car at the Seoul auto show earlier this year, and now the South Korean automaker has released the first picture of the production version of the car, called the Kia Cadenza. It'sset to replace the Kia Amanti.

The new Amanti replacement does away entirely with the retro-English styling and uses strong character lines and muscular flared fenders to thoroughly update the car. Up front, the Cadenza features a prominent grille flanked by elegant jewel-like headlights with LED surrounds. A character line starts just above the headlamps, and runs all the way to the car's posterior, creating a shapely shoulder.

As Kia has not yet shown a picture of the Cadenza's rear end or interior, we can only surmise that it looks similar to the VG concept car and design sketches previously released.

Inside the car, Kia says there will be “a futuristic floating dashboard,” which likely means an idea similar to Volvo’s cutaway center console. To help create a more upscale feeling inside the car, Kia added a mood lighting strip that runs the length of the dashboard to the door trim, a feature seen in several Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Other upscale features include a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and power extendable seats cushions.

The Cadenza is likely to come only with six-cylinder power, but with several choices available depending on the market. Kia's new 3.8-liter unit, found in the Borrego, will likely appear underhood.

“The new Cadenza will showcase the continuing evolution in Kia’s striking design language through the harmonious blend of light and lines,” said Soon-Nam Lee, director of Kia’s overseas marketing group. “It will also present a new concept in luxury sedans in terms of performance and technology.”
