Nissan's 2011 Juke is a new entry in the small crossover segment and certainly won't go unnoticed. What also won't go unnoticed is its starting price of $19,710, which places it squarely against its intended competition.

That $19,710 gets you a front-wheel-drive Juke S with a continuously variable transmission. Those who wish to shift for themselves can opt for a manual transmission, available on higher SV and SL trim levels. The FWD Juke SV with a clutch pedal starts at $21,010; opting for the CVT adds another $500. Top-of-the-line FWD Juke SL's start at $23,300 with a manual transmission and $23,800 with the CVT.

All-wheel-drive is also an option on the Juke, and is only available when paired with Nissan's CVT. The AWD system features a standard 50/50 front/rear torque split but can shuffle power to the front and rear axles, as well as side-to-side on the rear axle, to improve cornering. The base AWD Juke S starts at $21,110; SV trim starts at $23,010; and range-topping SLs start at $25,300.

Although Juke buyers will have a choice of transmissions and drivetrain combinations, Nissan's new 1.6-liter, direct-injection I-4 is standard across the board. The turbocharged engine produces 188 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque.

All prices listed include Nissan's typical destination fee of $750, although the destination fee may change. The Juke is scheduled to hit Nissan dealerships nationwide in October.
