Chrysler may be planning for a “quiet” presence at the 2010 Detroit auto show, but it will use the venue to show off three new special-edition Jeep models.

The Liberty Renegade model was launched in 2002, but disappeared from the lineup once the Liberty was redesigned in 2007. Like the previous Liberty Renegade, this iteration is meant to impart a rugged look and bolster its offroad prowess. Liberty Renegades will come equipped with aggressive off-road tires, skid plates, tow hooks, and fog lamps. Cosmetic changes include unique front and rear fascias, body side moldings, black headlamp bezels, and satin black vinyl hood graphics.

Inside, Jeep wrapped the steering wheel, shift knob, grab handle, center console lid, door armrests, and parking brake handle in leather. New premium cloth seats are also standard, as is an uplevel electronic vehicle information center, cruise control, and steering wheel-mounted radio controls.

After a hiatus stretching more than 20 years, the special edition Wrangler Islander model returns for 2010. As was the case before, the Islander is mostly a cosmetic package, and adds a unique Surf Blue paint color. A “Tiki Bob” logo is placed on the hood, and is embroidered into the seatbacks (which also sport Surf Blue inserts). The Islander package is available on all Wrangler models, and adds approximately $1120 to the price tag.

Another Wrangler special edition -- the Mountain -- joins the lineup for 2010. Although cosmetic changes include special decals and embroidered seats, the Mountain also receives grey 17-inch “Moab” wheels, tubular side steps, black taillight guards, and a Mopar fuel-filler door. The Wrangler Mountain package is available on two- and four-door Wrangler Sport S models, and costs an additional $1820.
