Inside Look: Dodge Releases More 2013 Dart Interior Photos

Having shown some tightly cropped photos of the exterior, Dodge has now released three images of the inside of the upcoming 2013 Dart. The compact sedan’s interior will draw many styling cues from larger Dodge vehicles, and also will offer an impressive range of equipment.

Chief among the equipment list is Chrysler’s 8.4-inch Uconnect touch-screen infotainment system. Located atop the center stack, this interface controls everything from seat heaters to the navigation system. Dodge also touts a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, and safety features like ten standard airbags, a blind-spot warning system, and rear cross-path detection.

The Dart’s instrument cluster has a large tachometer on the left and a fuel gauge on the right. In between the two is a seven-inch LCD screen that can be customized to show different types of data; in Dodge’s teaser photo, the screen shows the vehicle’s current speed, navigation directions, and the current song playing on the driver’s iPod. The Dart’s glove box, incidentally, is said to be large enough to store an Apple iPad.

The dashboard is composed of organic, sweeping shapes that wrap around the Uconnect screen and instrument cluster, cues that are somewhat reminiscent of the Dodge Charger’s dashboard layout. Dodge says it will offer a wide range of customization for the new car, offering a choice of 12 exterior colors, 14 interior trim options, and six different wheels. In addition to that, in-house parts division Mopar will offer a variety of option packages for the Dart.

The 2013 Dodge Dart will make its official debut at the Detroit auto show in January. The new sedan is based on Alfa Romeo’s Giulietta hatchback, and will replace the aging Caliber as Dodge’s smallest (and likely cheapest) car. The Dart will be offered with 2.0 and 2.4-liter inline-four “Tigershark” engines, as well as a turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir engine, with a choice of three different transmissions – one of which might help the Dart return an EPA rating of 40 mpg on the highway.

Stay tuned, as more information on the 2013 Dart will likely trickle out as the Detroit show grows ever closer.
