Insanity at the Essen Show: Porsche 911 Mission 400 Plus

Mission 400 Plus

This 911 show car is absolutely outrageous, and has one car lined up in its crosshairs: The Bugatti Veyron. That's right, this might be the fastest street legal car in the world.

;The Essen motor show is Europe’s version of SEMA. That means fewer overweight Mustang tuners and much, MUCH more insanity. Take the car you see here for example. Created by H&R springs and RS tuning, this custom 911 is called the Mission 400 Plus, and in that name is the car’s goal: 400 km/h. Actually, the creators want to top 400 km/h, then go on to top the Bugatti Veyron to claim the title of fastest street-legal car in the world. Not a simple weekend project.

;Starting with a Porsche 997, project leader Jurgen Alzen has lowered the roof 75 millimeters and raked back the a-pillar an extra 5.5 degrees. Power comes from a 997 Turbo engine tuned by RS tuning, good for 1054 horsepower thanks to a whopping 21.7 PSI of boost. To stay street-legal, the car somehow manages to comply with European emissions standards. If you don’t think this is the wildest 911 ever made, you should probably head out to the high-speed track in Nardo so that Herr Alzen can run you over on his way into the record books.
