ARK Performance has revealed the first details of its Hyundai Genesis Coupe show car that has been modified for the upcoming Specialty Equipment Market Association show in November. The car joins two other modified Hyundai models that will be shown at SEMA, a 1000-hp Genesis Coupe and a tuned Veloster Turbo.
The particular Hyundai Genesis Coupe is called the Legato concept, after an Italian musical term meaning, "tied together." Outside, the transformation entails aggressive ARK Performance side skirts, splitters, and "racing silver" paint, along with lightweight Rays Engineering wheels shod in Nitto NT05 rubber. A coilover suspension and upgraded brake pads improve handling and stopping.
Beneath the hood, the performance upgrades to this Hyundai Genesis Coupe are less substantial than those applied to the aforementioned twin-turbo, 1000-hp example. ARK strokes the 3.8-liter V-6 out to 4.0 liters and, thanks to the addition of new headers, a new exhaust, and a new intake, brings output up to 400 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque. A new flywheel and clutch help deliver the increased power to the rear wheels. Inside, look for bucket seats, a Rockford Fosgate sound system, and a performance data logger.
As with the other Hyundai concept cars headed to the SEMA show, there are no plans for this Hyundai Genesis Coupe Legato to enter production.
