Honda Recalls Odyssey and Acura RL to Fix Potential Brake Fluid Leak

Automobile Staff

Acura RLs and Honda Odysseys are subject to a new Honda recall to address the same brake fluid leak issue that recently affected 740,000 Toyotas.

The Problem: A seal in the brake master cylinder could fail if brake fluid other than Honda Genuine brake fluid is used. If this happens, a slow leak could lead to a loss in braking performance and the brake fluid light could illuminate. The Fix: More information should be available after Honda finishes reporting the issue to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but the fix will likely be similar to that of Toyota's: Swapping the brake master cylinder cup with a new unit and changing the fuel pump wiring.

Number of vehicles potentially affected: Honda is still sorting this out, but the present estimate is roughly 470,000 vehicles in total.
