Shortly after the first photos broke of the 2010 Chevrolet Cruze, GM displayed this - a Cruze prototype built to U.S. specifications.

Well, kind of.; We're told this car, present during a press conference at GM's assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, is little more than a foam model.; However, having seen the official photos of the European version, it does illustrate a few changes we can expect for the stateside model.

If you're a fan of the new styling, you'll be happy to hear those tweaks are minimal.; GM's stripped the car of its fender-mounted turn signal, and placed marker lamps on the front corners of the car.; Although no photos of the mockup's derriere were released, we're expecting to see similar lights installed on the Cruze's rear flanks.

Along with showcasing the car, GM announced it was investing nearly $350 million into the plant (currently home to the Chevrolet Cobalt, HHR, and Pontiac G5) to manufacture the car for domestic consumption.; Production for U.S.-bound models is expected to begin in late 2009 with sales scheduled for 2010.

The design of the front grille looks a little awkward. Other than that, it seems like an alright vehicle.---I've linked to this article on http://DriveCritic.com/
