GM Offers More Power for Turbocharged Ecotec Motors

Think the 260-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecotec I-4 is a good mill, but not quite powerful enough? GM Performance Parts hears your wishes, and as a result, it’s launched the new LNF Turbo Upgrade kit.
Consisting mainly of a new MAP sensor and a re-flash of the engine’s computer, the LNF turbo upgrade kit is open to all owners of a Pontiac Solstice GXP, Saturn Sky Red Line, Chevrolet Cobalt SS or HHR SS. The kit isn’t complex, but it is good enough to boost output to 290 hp and 340 lb-ft of torque (325 lb-ft of torque on automatic-equipped cars, save for the HHR SS auto, which will produce 315 lb-ft).
If that weren’t enough, GM’s kit also includes the ‘no-lift shift’ feature on manual-transmission cars. Introduced on the HHR SS and revised Cobalt SS, this allows the driver to keep the accelerator fully floored during shifts, which in turn keeps turbo boost from falling between gears.
Sounds good, you say, but you’re on a bit of a budget these days? Fret not. GM Performance Parts says the LNF upgrade kit will carry an MSRP of a mere $650 (not including installation, but it’ll be a DIY project for most gearheads) and – believe it or not – retain the factory warranty. Sounds like a no-brainer to us.
