GM Issues More Recalls, For 2.42 Million Cars

2009-2014 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia; 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook
The Problem:
A steel cable that attaches the seatbelt to the outside of the front seats can fatigue over time and fail, which could increase the risk of passenger injuries in a crash.

The Fix: GM dealers will inspect and repair the cables. The company told dealers they cannot sell new or used crossovers until this problem has been fixed.

Number Of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 1.4 million crossovers including the 2009-2014 Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia; and 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook

2004-2008 Chevrolet Malibu, 2005-2008 Pontiac G6
The Problem:
In models with a four-speed automatic transmission, a shift cable can wear and fail. If it snaps, the driver won't be able to select a new gear, meaning he or she might not be able to select Park or remove the key from the ignition. GM is aware of 18 crashes due to this problem and four injuries. The Saturn Aura was previously recalled for the same problem.

The Fix: GM will replace the shift cable and the cable's attachment bracket for free.

Number Of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 1.07 million Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.

2015 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV
The Problem:
Part of the passenger-side airbag wasn't adequately attached to another component, meaning it might not deploy properly in a crash. Cadillac has asked the 224 owners who have already taken delivery of affected 2015 Escalades to avoid having front-seat passengers until the SUVs can be fixed.

The Fix: The GM supplier that produces the airbags has corrected the problem and will send new modules to dealers for replacement.

Number Of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 1402 2015 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV SUVs.

2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD
The Problem:
In models equipped with a certain 220-amp generator, clips holding the fuse block to the truck's body can fail. If the fuse block falls out of position, it can cause a short circuit and a fire, although GM has no reports of injuries due to the problem.

The Fix: GM dealers will replace the mounting clips.

Number Of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 58 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD and 2015 GMC Sierra HD trucks.
