It would only make sense to make a gold sculpture out of the Aston Martin DB5 that appeared in the classic James Bond movie, Goldfinger, and Swiss artist and creator Dante Rublin did just that. The 24-karat creation, part of the artist’s Iconic Sports Car series, will be unveiled at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Thought by many as the world’s coolest spy car, the gadget-laden Aston Martin DB5 made enthusiasts drool over James Bond’s tricked-out machine in the 1964 Goldfinger film, and Dante hopes to spark that passion once again with his new work-of-art. Previously debuted at the 2010 Top Marques Event in Monaco, Dante unveiled the sculpture alongside former 007 agent, Sir Roger Moore.
"I was flattered to have Sir Roger Moore unveil this piece to the world," said the artist. "His reaction when he unveiled my 24-karat interpretation of this great car confirmed to me that I have succeeded in creating art that brings people great pleasure."
The golden DB5 is the second sculpture to join Dante’s Iconic Sports Car series along with a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing and a Ferrari 250 GTO, which will also be unveiled at Pebble Beach.
But the artist isn’t just all about sculptures – he’s also designed automobiles for celebrities and collectors from all over the world.
