General Motors still won’t reveal details surrounding the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette convertible until tomorrow, but to help tide you over, the automaker did release another three images of the new drop-top C7.
While the previous batch of 2014 Corvette convertible images only showed the car from a front three-quarters perspective, these new shots finally give us a look at the 2014 Corvette convertible’s tail. Predictably, quite a bit of the rear clip is shared with the 2014 Corvette coupe, although a few minor changes occurred in transforming the car into a convertible. First, the lower edges of the side windows extend to the tail of the car, creating a shoulder that surrounds the tonneau cover and tapers in the decklid. Second, the vents mounted atop the coupe’s rear fenders do not appear to be carried over to the convertible.
GM won’t reveal any further information until tomorrow, but expect mechanical specifications to essentially mirror those of the 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe. Power should still come from the new LT1 6.2-liter V-8, and provide a hearty 450 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. We don’t know what sort of weight penalty – if any – the 2014 Corvette convertible suffers as a result of its folding top, as GM is mum until the official reveal.
Fortunately, you won’t have to wait long for them, as the 2014 Corvette convertible will be formally unveiled on March 5. Stay with Automobile Magazine for all the latest news surrounding the drop-top C7 and the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
