Geneva 2013: Alfa Romeo Gloria Concept Is Designed For America and Asia

Students at Turin's European Design Institute (IED) worked with Alfa Romeo Style to develop the Gloria, a concept car that will bow on the Alfa Romeo stand at the Geneva Motor Show. Alfa says the four-door coupe was specifically designed for the tastes of the American and Asian markets.

The Gloria has a curved, coupe-like roof accented by chrome rails, with a prominently pointed nose and V-shaped hood. At 185.0 inches long and 75.6 inches wide, the concept car is roughly the same size as a Ford Fusion -- although dramatically more interesting to look at. Unusual touches include leather straps to keep the hood closed. The designers say that a production Gloria would use a twin-turbo V-6 or V-8 engine. Its 20-inch wheels come from OZ Racing.

The car was design by 20 master's students at the IED. "What better brand than Alfa Romeo to teach our students how form and volume can convey strong emotions, fuelling the desire to design a car?" IED director César Mendoza said in a statement.

Although this concept car probably won't reach a showroom any time soon, Alfa Romeo is still planning to make inroads in the American car market. The automaker promises its 4C sports coupe will go on sale here by the end of 2013.

absolutely beautiful but that nose won't make it to production.

Certainly is eye-catching, though I'd like to see it in person in order to 'absorb' all its nuances.

The hoodlife and grille treatment would be wild as the new signature front Alfa feature, and something about the awkward c-pillar just makes me smile.
Henning Lind
Smuk, smuk, smuk. Den gad jeg godt have :)

i AM LOOKING AT A LONG TERM AQUISITION. I WOULD SAY AT 76 YEARS OF AGE I WOULD BE MATURE ENOUGH TO DRIVE SUCH A ELEGANT PIECE OF MACHINERY.

...pretty but kinda looks like it should be pulling water skiers. That "boat nose" is too much.
