Steve McQueen’s iconic Highland Green 1968 Mustang will live on thanks to Bourbon, Missouri outfit Gateway Classic Mustang. Yes, if you have enough dough, all your dreams of re-enacting Bullitt’s amazing car chase can come true.
The Highland Green ponycar, dubbed the Limited Edition 1968 Steve McQueen Signature Mustang, touts a 450-horsepower Roush engine under its newly-built classic body. All that muscle is routed first through a Keisler five-speed manual, then onto sticky BFGoodrich rubber wrapped around American Racing alloys. Luckily, there are 12-inch/11-inch front/rear Baer brakes and a coilover suspension to keep everything civilized.
Each car is meticulously crafted inside as well. Interiors are modeled after the original 1967/68 Ford Mustangs, but now have extra sound dampening, air conditioning, and new gauges to better cope with everyday duty.
Gateway is currently mum on pricing and availability, but we’re guessing the Signature Mustang won’t be cheap, and it will surely be rare.
