Los Angeles custom car shop Galpin Auto Sports has crafted a wild one-off Ford Mustang for the movie "Kick-Ass". The Mustang, dubbed the "Red Mist," is reportedly a fully customized sports car, ready to serve any superhero's needs.
In this instance, however, the car is destined for a (wannabe) supervillain, played by Christopher "McLovin" Minz-Plasse. Director Matthew Vaughn first approached the shop two years ago to find a special car for the film. After grabbing what was a stock 2008 Mustang GT, GAS went to town.
Thanks to a bolt-on supercharger, the 4.6-liter V-8 pumps out 550 horsepower, allowing Galpin to proclaim it's a fully functional car, not a mere prop. Still, most of the "upgrades" are visual. GAS grafted a complete body kit to the 'Stang, giving it a sinister look. Custom 20-inch red-on-black wheels were made for car. Galpin fitted 10-inch-wide tires in back, which mandated some bodywork to accommodate the new rubber. Scissor doors are par for the course, as are a number of extra performance gauges. Red LED mood lighting and underhood nitrous purge valves help give the car some additional character.
