Four New Fords Headed for Frankfurt, More Info on High-Performance Focus in Store

Ford is getting ready to make a splash at this fall’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The automaker has announced that it will be showing not one, not two, not three, but four global reveals, including more information on the upcoming performance variant of the Focus.

Most important to enthusiasts is whatever new information the Blue Oval may have for the hopped-up Focus. Although some may be wishing for news on a next-generation Focus RS, chances are that we’ll be hearing more concreteinformation pertaining tothe upcoming Focus ST. The production version of that car is expected to receive a turbocharged, 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder producing around 246 hp and at least 250 lb-ft of torque.

The only remaining detail Ford has given us is that one of the four models will be “a major new design concept.” The car could potentially be a preview of the next Mondeo/Fusion midsize sedan, given that model’s timeline (it is expected to launch around 2014), but Ford’s mum on the subject.

There are three possibilities on what the remaining two cars could be: most likely, one of them will be the production version of the B-Max concept that Ford showed at the Geneva Motor Show this spring. One of the cars could be another Fiesta-based model, perhaps even the high-performance Fiesta ST that has recently been spotted testing. The high-po hatchback is expected to launch in Europe sometime next year, so a fall ’11 revealisn’t too far-fetched.

Another possibility lies with the reveal of the successor to the Escape and Kuga compact crossovers. Ford showed the Vertrek concept at the Detroit auto show this year, and it is well known that the two lines will merge into one (like the Mondeo and Fusion). The new CUV is slated for a reveal by year-end.

Until Ford cares to dish a little further about its Frankfurt festivities, all we can suggest is to “stay tuned.”
