Simulation racing gamers get ready: the next-generation is arriving. Microsoft just pulled the wraps off its next-generation console, the Xbox One. With it came the announcement of Forza Motorsport 5 and the first trailer of the game featuring the McLaren P1 and legendary McLaren F1.
Rendered with extreme detail thanks to Xbox One, the Forza 5 trailer begins on what looks to be a Turn10-designed track in Europe. We're greeted to the sound of screaming engines as the two McLarens race down cobblestone streets. Announcers give a play-by-play as the F1 and P1 duke it out for the advantage. As the cars race, we get cinematic footage of the two drivers, the cars, and even rubber being shredded from the tires as the cars are pushed, giving us an idea of the level of detail we can expect in the new game.
The trailer is our first look at a Forza 5-McLaren tie in, which will give gamers the chance to ride in a McLaren P1 at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The follow-up to Forza Motorsports 4 (Forza Horizon was more of a spin-off of the series), the release of Forza 5 for Xbox One allows Microsoft to keep ahead of the recently announced Gran Turismo 6, which rival Sony is releasing for PlayStation 3, rather than its new PlayStation 4 system.
Xbox One hits stores this holiday season. The new console sports a 500 GB hard drive, 8 GB of RAM, and 64-bit system architecture, and plays Blu-ray discs. Forza 5, which will be available at Xbox One's launch, certainly appears to take full advantage of the new specs. Check out the Forza 5 trailer for yourself below.
