The Ford Escape came close to the Honda CR-V in October, as the blue oval-badged CUV barely missed the number one spot by 301 units. The Japanese CUV sold 22,554 units, landing it in the top spot once again. With two months left in the year, the Escape can still make a comeback if it can surpass year-to-date sales, as it's only behind the CR-V by 1093 units. Although the Chevrolet Equinox sat in the third position for the better part of the year, the Toyota RAV4 managed to bump it from that spot yet again in October, selling 17,590 units compared to the 17,163 Equinoxes sold. After the Equinox is the fifth-place Nissan Rogue with 12,919 CUVs accounted for, followed by the Subaru Forester, which moved 12,581 units off the lot. That's it for the CUVs that sold above 10,000 units, as seventh place belongs to the GMC Terrain, which sold 7918 crossovers.  Eighth and ninth place goes to the Mazda CX-5 and Jeep Patriot, with 5833 and 5581 units sold, respectively. Rounding out the top 10 list is Subaru XV Crosstrek, thanks to the 4886 CUVs sold. The Jeep Compass didn't quite make the cutoff this time around, coming up short to the Crosstrek by about 700 units. The Nissan Juke came in after that, followed by the Mini Countryman/Paceman, which sat at the very bottom of the list for most of the year. The Kia Sportage and Volkswagen Tiguan also moved up a position, surpassing the Hyundai Tucson, which tanked with 2016 units. Source: The Automakers
