Having missed out on being the main brand featured in the Transformers films, Ford is now getting in on the half-vehicle, half-robot action. To celebrate the release of the new video game Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Ford Australia has rolled out a piece of concept art depicting an Australian-market Falcon XR6 as a Transformer.
Named "Falcatron," the Falcon XR6-based transformer isn’t actually featured in the upcoming video game, a sequel to 2010’s Transformers: War for Cybertron.  Ford Australia says on its Facebook page that the character was created by High Moon Studios, the developer behind the game series, as a piece of concept art to show its interpretation of Ford’s Australian sedan. Though the rendering bears no markings in either robot or vehicle mode, the character appears to be an autobot. Whatever his affiliation, Falcatron transforms from a Mad Max-inspired blue and red Falcon XR6 shooting brake into a muscular, battle-ready robot.
In the real world, the Ford Falcon XR6 is powered not by a fire-breathing V-8, but a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter I-6. The standard XR6 makes a somewhat pedestrian 260 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque, but in Turbo trim produces 362 hp and 393 lb-ft – a figure likely better suited for a giant transforming robot.
