There’s little more we could ask of Ford’s F-150 SVT Raptor, but customers clamoring for a little more interior room will have their wish granted come next year. Ford has confirmed that a four-door SVT Raptor SuperCrew model will officially join the F-150 lineup for 2011.
Apart from stretching the wheelbase to accommodate the larger four-door crew cab, the remainder of the truck will largely be identical to today’s Raptor, which utilizes Ford’s SuperCab extended cab. The phenomenal suspension design will carry over to the four-door model (along with the Fox Racing reservoir shocks), although engineers have reportedly retuned the setup to provide more low- and mid-compression dampening, which may help slow body motions. PickupTrucks.com reports that in order to counter the extra heft, all Raptor SuperCrew models will be equipped with Ford’s new 411-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8, which is an option in the “base” SVT Raptor. Ford won’t publicly unveil the Raptor SuperCrew for several months yet, but until it does, you can watch the Motor Trend team join forces with Ford’s engineering staff to play with a prototype on the desert sands.
