The Ford F-150 Limited was alluded to in a preview of the 2013 models, but now we have more details on the latest upscale trim for Ford's perennial best-seller, as well as details on the updated version of the hardcore SVT Raptor off-road version. Fullsize trucks are traditionally known for their wide number of configurability options, but both the Limited and Raptor buck that trend by coming essentially one way: fully-loaded.
The Raptor sees the same raft of enhancement coming to the rest of the F-150 lineup for 2013, including the addition of HID headlights and a revised interior with MyFord Touch. On top of the five already-available exterior colors, Ford has added a new dirt-colored paint called "Terrain," which is exclusive to the Raptor.
As was the case for 2012, a 6.2-liter V-8 mated to four-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic will be the only available powertrain configuration for the 2013 F-150 SVT Raptor. That engine is good for a healthy 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque. To help in the truck's road-free missions, the Raptor is now offered with beadlock-capable aluminum wheels from that can aid in finding grip in low-traction situations.
The 2013 F-150 Limited trades the trail-traversing abilities in favor of ensconcing passengers in the lap of luxury. Buyers can decide between three paint colors and two or four-wheel drive. Even the cab configuration is decided for you. Standard equipment starts on the inside with Sync with MyFord Touch and navigation with Sirius Travel Link on an 8-inch touchscreen, red and black full-grain leather, and aluminum and piano-black interior trim. The seatbacks get a unique "Limited" badge, with the driver's side getting a two-position memory setting, and both front seats getting standard heating and cooling. Rear-seat passengers get bun-warmers as well.
The driver and passenger will enjoy plenty of entertainment options as well, with a media hub with USB ports, an SD card reader and RCA video input jacks to complement the standard premium Sony sound system.
You'll be able to spot the Limited in the wild by raised-letter badging on the bed sides, a chrome mesh-style grille, and unique 22-inch wheels. The grille surround, wheel arches, and front and rear bumpers are all matched to the exterior paint color. The Limited also features segment-first standard HID headlights with the F-150 logo incorporated into the light housing. The only available body style for the Limited trim is the 4-door SuperCrew configuration. Under the hood, the Limited comes exclusively with Ford's popular 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V-6.
The F-150 Limited will be available in three hues: Ruby Red Metallic, Tuxedo Black Metallic, and White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat. Prices have not yet been announced, but considering the figure $50,000 was alluded to in the Limited's press release, don't be too surprised to see a starting price near the half-century bills mark; expect a modest increase over the 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor's starting price of $43,970. The F-150 Limited and 2013 SVT Raptor will be in Ford showrooms in fall 2012.
