Following the recent trend of auctioning off first-build muscle cars, Ford announces it will auction off the first production Mustang GT500 at the Scottsdale Barrett Jackson Car Auction.
Last year the first Dodge Challenger sold at Barrett Jackson for $400,000 and earlier this year the first Corvette ZR1 went for a staggering $1,000,000. Ford is hoping to put up similar numbers with by selling its first production 2010 Mustang GT500. Like the other first-built cars, anything over MSRP will go to charity (a real charity, not the “floundering automaker fund”).
In addition to the first 2010 GT500, Ford will be auctioning the first standard 2010 Ford Mustang and the first F-150 SVT Raptor. GM will be joining Ford on the auction block with the first 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.
