While the leaked shots of Ferrari's F70 from last month might have been a mistake, the photos you see here are not: less than a month after a shadowy teaser of the F70 made the rounds on the internet, Ferrari put its own teaser shots -- one front, one rear -- in the new issue of Ferrari Magazine.
The shadowy teaser of the front end--proudly displayed on the front cover of Ferrari Magazine 19 -- matches the blurry dealer-meeting photo that surfaced on Weibo (China's Twitter) last month, but once you open the cover, there's a new glimpse at the car, this time from the rear view. The rear end's T shape, formed by two circular taillamps with a rear lip spoiler stretching between the two, then a protruding rear fascia stretching down to the diffuser, looks like a more dramatic version of the f12berlinetta supercar. With the F70, however, it appears as if the square at the bottom of the bumper isn't an F1-inspired rear foglamp but rather a center-exit exhaust. Fans of one-off Ferrari creations will recognize some shapes from an earlier creation, the Pininfarina P4/5--it looks like the new F70 will appear as a curvier version of that Enzo-based car, especially from the rear end.
Underneath the body panels, we believe that the car will have a 920-hp hybrid system (comprised of a 120-hp electric motor and an 800-hp V-12) and a body made from varying thicknesses and strengths of carbon fiber. Total curb weight is projected to be less than 3000 pounds, while the final price will probably be at least a million dollars.
With an anticipated reveal date during the 2013 Geneva Auto Show, Ferrari will undoubtedly show off a little more of the new car before then.
