We have two feature flicks to show you today, but we’re going to warn you: one of them is suitable for viewing in just about any setting, but the second toes the line of “not suitable for work.” The former is a video of four generations of Audi RS4 Avant, while the latter is a video of the Audi R8 V10 Plus not wearing all of its sheet metal/composite garments.
The Avant video is pretty straight forward: one track, and all four generations of the Audi RS4 Avant. Well, when we say “RS4 Avant” we really mean Audi’s hottest wagons: the first generation wagon was technically the RS2 Avant, co-developed with Porsche and capable of 163 mph (thanks to a turbocharged 2.2-liter I-5 making 315 hp). The second generation upgraded the name to RS4 Avant and upgraded the engine to a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6; the third and fourth generations use 4.2-liter, naturally aspirated V-8s.
The second video is a bit more fun, and quite a bit naughtier: Audi decided to show off the R8 V10 Plus’ power by strapping it to a dyno and ripping through the gears at full throttle. But Audi removed a few pesky body panels (and mufflers) that got in the way of the engine noise, including the full rear clip and glass engine cover. The result is a 80-second video that defines “car porn” and even includes a little bit of fire for good measure. If you were still wondering if the R8 was capable of being a true supercar, this should be your answer right here.
