You won't be able to purchase a new 2013 Audi A5 (or S5) from a U.S. showroom until sometime next summer, but that isn't stopping the automaker from showcasing its new model in a viral video.
The clip shows off all three 2013 A5 variants -- including the coupe, Cabriolet, and verboten-in-America Sportback -- driving in a setting that seems to be the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, but quickly morphs into a digitally-altered world of its own. The psychedelic effects grow increasingly spectacular as the clip outlines what's new for the 2013 model year.
As we've previously reported, the 2013 A5 is a relatively modest update to Audi's midsize coupe and convertible offering. The new car receives revised front and rear clips, along with restyled headlamps, new taillamps, and a tweaked grille, but most other exterior sheetmetal is left essentially untouched. While A5 models continue to use VW's turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4, there is some revision to the engine lineup for the S5. The 2013 S5 coupe now uses the same 333-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 that the S5 Cabriolet gained last year.
