A few weeks ago Toyota gave us a peek of its NS4 plug-in hybrid concept by revealing a teaser photo of its headlight. Not only would the NS4 be Toyota second plug-in offering after the upcoming Prius model, but it should be more stylish and sporty, too.
With less than a week before the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, Toyota has revealed more of the NS4 in this video, which showcases a sequence of teasers shots of the exterior and interior. The video doesn’t reveal much more than a clay model’s hood, which appears sleek and sporty. And in typical concept form, the interior will be a display of high-tech goodies with a lot of emphasis on touch technology.
There’s still no word on what will power the NS4. There’s a chance it will borrow the same powertrain from the Prius Plug-In, which includes a 1.8-liter, 98-hp, inline-four engine supplemented by a 80-hp electric motor. It has an all-electric range of 15 miles before going into hybrid mode.
Also unclear is if the NS4 will join the growing Prius family, which already consists of the normal Prius, the Prius Plug-In, the larger Prius v, and the upcoming Prius c city car. If so, the NS4 would likely be a sporty hybrid, perhaps even a coupe. The 2012 Detroit Auto Show is less than a week away, so stay tuned to Automobile for more details.
