The worldwide launch of the Toyota 86 is almost complete, but the automaker is still testing its newest coupe to the delight of enthusiasts everywhere.
The following video, titled “Drive with Passion,” features a red Toyota 86 on a racetrack demonstrating what it was built to do—aggressively attack corners with the tail getting loose all over the place. This particular coupe is sporting license plates displaying the letters “T E S T”— we’d like to think it stands for “Tire Eviscerating Session Time.”
On paper, the Toyota 86’s 2.0-liter four-banger with 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque may seem too tame to some. But as the video demonstrates, a light chassis combined with narrow, moderate-grip tires leads to fun times on the track.
The Toyota 86 is just a few weeks away from arriving on our shores as the Scion FR-S and the Subaru BRZ; tire companies rejoice.
