Can the 2012 Mini Cooper S Coupe’s fun quotient justify its lack of practicality? Motor Trend’s Carlos Lago drives one on the streets and track to find out on this week’s episode of Ignition.
Mini claims the Cooper S Coupe is the most fun and fastest S model it’s ever built. In testing the six-speed manual transmission helped the 181-hp Mini Cooper S Coupe finish the quarter mile in 14.8 seconds—placing only a few tenths of a second slower than the last 208-hp Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works model tested. Lago was impressed by its handling and said it would be a great car on a canyon road.
Is the Mini Cooper S Coupe’s fun to drive manner make up for its loss of practicality compared to the Mini Cooper S hatchback? Check out the latest episode of Ignition in the video below to see what we think.
