What’s the best way to tackle the Long Beach road course with a Cadillac CTS-V Coupe racer? Cadillac team drivers Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim literally show you how it’s done in this new video clip.
This video shows two CTS-V coupes attacking the Long Beach circuit, with each driver taking turns to narrate their lap. The Cadillac racers make easy work of passing competitors, ultimately finishing the Long Beach race in seventh and eight place, respectively. Cadillac is currently second in manufacturer points after the third round of the SCCA World Challenge series.
If you don’t remember it, allow us to remind you about the CTS-V racer. It has been stripped of over 900 pounds in comparison with the production version, and was prepared to comply with SCCA rules. It rides on a custom rear suspension, wears carbon-fiber body panels and aerodynamics extensions, and features a brace of safety equipment like a roll cage and fire extinguisher. The CTS-V’s 6.2-liter V-8 engine has been stripped of its supercharger and mated with an Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission; the naturally aspirated engine’s output hasn’t been disclosed, but is likely around 550 horsepower.
