Subaru and Puma have officially announced their driver lineup for this year's Global Rallycross championship. The team, dubbed Subaru Puma Rallycross, features BMX legend and Rally America regular Dave Mirra, skateboarder Bucky Lasek, and 2011 European Rallycross champion Sverre Isachsen behind the wheel of modded-out Subaru Impreza WRX STIs. The team has announced its ambitions the only way former extreme athletes know how – by sliding their Subarus around in some hot video action.
The team's video starts with the three racers hopping out of a black helicopter sporting Puma shoes that mimic the Puma skeleton liveries of their cars. The racers then hop in their rally cross-prepped WRX STIs, line up, and launch into some hot laps around the track with the black chopper in hot pursuit.
The three drivers generally do their best Ken Block Gymkhana impressions – performing smoky drifts around bends, getting up on two wheels after clipping apexes, and doing doughnuts around an oil barrel. Stop us if any of this sounds familiar.
So the video may not be entirely original, but that’s alright; it's still a chance to see some high-powered rally cars burn some rubber, and it gives you a glimpse at just how competitive this season of Global Rallycross should turn out to be.
