Motor Trend's Jonny Lieberman introduces us to the new 2014 SRT Viper TA on this week's episode of Ignition. Short for Time Attack, the Viper TA is the brand’s attempt at taking back the production car lap record at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

This week's Ignition kicks off with Jonny Lieberman introducing the new Viper TA, which is a hardcore track-oriented Viper. As Lieberman points out, think of the Viper TA as you would Porsche's GTS cars: all the track goodies, and nothing more. So while the Viper TA's 8.4-liter 640 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque V-10 remains unchanged, it gets the Track Package, bigger brakes, a carbon fiber x-brace, the carbon fiber aero pack, as well as a TA-specific suspension. The electronically adjustable suspension forgoes a street mode, and instead just offers two track modes: smooth and rough.

Lieberman then hands the keys off to Pobst, who hops behind the wheel to set a 1:33.62 lap time, besting the Corvette ZR1's 1:33.70 lap, earning the 2014 SRT Viper TA the distinction of being the fastest production car around Laguna Seca.
