Sometimes, it's easier to put the less illustrious parts of our past behind us, and that's originally what the plan was with this episode of Roadkill. Not all of Freiburger and Finnegan's epic automotive adventures end in victory, but the failure of this 1973 Plymouth Fury was so complete, the two had hoped to bury it forever, never to reach the glaring eyes of the interwebs. Alas, the story had to be told, and now a year later, the saga of the LeMons Fury is being told.
In a last-minute dash to prepare the car for the 24 Hours of LeMons, the Fury was hastily prepped, with parts pilfered off Freiburger's Buick convertible, such as wheels and a radiator. A quick drive around the block confirmed the car was capable of driving. But the rigors of motorsport proved too much for the vintage Mopar, with the car quickly overheating, and Finnegan not even completing a full lap before the car completely gave up the ghost. The engine was a total write-off, but somehow, the transmission was salvaged for Freiburger's 1968 Dodge Challenger, although it's likely not in much better running order than the boat-anchor engine. You can witness all the trials and tribulations of the Fury below. Be sure to watch Roadkill every fourth Friday on the Motor Trend Channel.
