If you weren't already excited enough for the 2014 Jaguar F-Type, it's time to get excited. Jaguar has tossed racing legends Martin Brundle, Christian Danner, and Justin Bell behind the wheel of two F-Type prototypes and, from what they say, the new Jag will drive fantastically.
Even if Jaguar hadn't provided us with commentary from Brundle, Danner, and Bell, the latest F-Type video would still be a delight thanks to the sonorous exhaust notes from the supercharged V-6 and V-8 powerplants. Those forced-induction engines are the base, 3.0-liter V-6 making 340 hp; the mid-grade F-Type S that milks 380 hp from the same V-6; and the 495-hp F-Type V8 S that uses a 5.0-liter eight cylinder. The only transmission option (for now) is an eight-speed automatic, which, according to Danner, means "you're never in the wrong gear, so it's always perfect."
"You know a car is good when you just smile when you hear the noise," states Bell at the beginning of the video. Brundle agrees: "a nice bark from the exhaust is the first thing you notice" – and the drivers are speaking about the V-6 car, too. The video continues by following the three drivers as they flog both F-Type S and V8 S cars around Snetterton Race Circuit and the area surrounding Norfolk, England.
