Toyota built the Prius V for Prius owners who wanted more utility. Now, Ford's C-Max Hybrid is challenging the Toyota hybrids. On this Feature Flick, Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman drives the Prius V and C-Max to see which hybrid he likes better.
Lieberman’s first stop is at Raceline USA for a quick chassis dyno test. While both cars made slightly less horsepower at the wheels than their factory engine horsepower rating, Lieberman notes that with so many variables relating to the complex hybrid powertrains, it’s difficult to know just how accurate the readings really are. After road testing the two hybrid hatchbacks, he evaluates them in the city and in the canyons to see how they drive.
Once Lieberman opines about the hybrids, he sits down with Motor Trend technical director Kim Reynolds to discuss the rivalry and controversy surrounding Ford and Toyota’s hybrid technologies. Check out the video below to see whether hybrid Lieberman would take the Ford C-Max Hybrid or the Toyota Prius V.
