Feature Flick: Nissan Works to Fit GT-R Components Inside Juke

As work continues on Nissan’s Juke-R, the company released another video showing the build process. In case you’ve forgotten, the Juke-R is Nissan Europe’s ambitious plan to stuff the ferocious powertrain from the GT-R supercar into the body of the Juke compact crossover.

As the engineers featured in this video explain, there are several big challenges to making the drivetrain mash-up happen. Nissan must find space inside the Juke for the electronics controlling the GT-R’s engine and all-wheel-drive system, as well as its in-dash touchscreen interface. Moreover, just fitting the twin-turbo V-6 engine, dual-clutch transmission, and all-wheel-drive arrangement will require shortening the GT-R’s driveline by over nine inches and cutting all-new openings in the Juke’s floor plan.

Although it sounds like there’s still a lot of work left to do, Nissan says two prototypes of the Juke-R will be ready for testing from November. Check out the progress video for yourself below.
