To celebrate Canada’s 145th birthday, Nissan Canada put on a water show in four cities last night, utilizing 3D Water Screen Projection technology that produces a hologram effect, showing a giant Nissan Altima skimming across – and diving under– the water.
The shows were held on the waterfronts of Canadian cities Halifax, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver. Using a submerged nozzle, the 3D water screen projection process sprays a thin layer of water, which diffuses light and delivers a 3D effect. Nissan claims it is the first company to exhibit the technology in Canada.
In the video, we see a holographic lighthouse rise out of the water to project a 3D Nissan Altima. The phantom car then drives along the water, occasionally disappearing below the surface. After the Altima pulls a few stunts, the lighthouse crashes on top of the car, which emerges from the splash and drives toward the audience to give them a closer look at the larger-than-life Nissan.
Though producing a water show about a giant Nissan Altima may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about celebrating Canada Day, the show at least showed audiences what this technology can do. Check out the video below.
