While professional hooners like Ken Block and Rhys Millen put on a good drifting show, there's nothing quite like authentic JDM drifting action. Japan is home to the sport, and the Tokyo Auto Salon is the perfect place to showcase the art form, and this year's show had a special guest lined up.
The fun begins as a Toyota GT-86 (which will come here in U.S.-spec form as the Scion FR-S) and an old school AE86 perform in what seems to be a perfectly choreographed drift dance, as the GT-86 takes the lead from its classic predecessor. The two leave a trail of smoke behind as they slide sideways in complete unison, and while the crowd is engrossed in the show, they aren't ready for what's about to happen next as an unsuspecting Lexus LFA roadster glides onto the tarmac and steals the spotlight.
The level of excitement is clearly turned up a notch, not only because the $400,000 LFA is as rare as they come, but perhaps because the topless LFA roadster isn't even scheduled to go on sale until 2014. Even the LFA's screaming 4.8-liter V-10 engine can't drown out the oohs and aahs from the crowd. Watch the LFA roaster steal the show and the rest of the drifting demo in the video below.
