As Nissan raises the performance of the GT-R, the car's price follows. In this Feature Flick, however, enthusiasts who can’t afford Godzilla’s near six-figure price tag can still sample the supercar slayer with Motor Trend’s Jessi Lang, who participates in Skip Barber’s 2013 GT-R Experience at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Participants start out on the drag strip and slalom course before heading out to the track to learn high-speed lapping, acceleration and braking as well as track line technique. The track, built in 1957, is home to auto and motorcycle racing as well as the infamous Corkscrew—something Lang says nothing can prepare first-time drivers for. Virtually all of the track’s 180 feet of elevation changes happen through the corkscrew from the beginning of turn 8 to the end of turn 9.
Check out the video below to hear Lang’s impressions of her time with the mighty Nissan GT-R on in driving school.
