Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is a tough track to take on four wheels, but one daredevil decided to up the ante in today's Feature Flick and take the famous southern California racetrack, in a Ford Mustang, on just two.
That doesn't mean that the video's star, James "Ski" Smith, took a motorcycle around the 2.24-mile Laguna Seca track, rather hopping into an old Fox-body Ford Mustang, hitting a makeshift ramp, and then driving around the course on just two wheels. Smith has performed the trick dozens of times before in many other cars, but he admits that this one was especially tough because he had never driven the track before, either by “skiing” or on all four tires.
While we would have loved to see how Smith and the Ford Mustang would have fared on the infamous Corkscrew turn--in the video Smith nonchalantly states that he "doesn't know what kind of a hill it is"--but the Mustang suffered engine trouble just after exiting turn 6, somewhere on Rahal Straight. Rumor has it oil gushed from one cylinder bank to the other, which isn’t surprising given the angle it was cruising at.
It's a pity he didn’t make it further down Laguna Seca, but you can still watch the Ford Mustang go through the first six turns in the video below.
