Cadillac has released another chapter of “The Journey”, a video series documenting the development of the company’s upcoming ATS sport sedan. The latest video shows Cadillac engineers and test drivers putting the ATS through its paces on the autobahn and Nürburgring in Germany. As the video shows, feedback from driving the ATS in the real world helped engineers tweak everything from suspension components to tire choices. The engineers seen in this clip were hand-picked for their driving skill and certification. Each driver gives feedback on how the ATS feels as Cadillac strives for a “fun-to-drive” character. Many of the drivers were also involved with developing the CTS and Cadillac’s V-Series performance cars. As with a prior video, this clip gives us a chance to ogle a camouflaged ATS. The car has a large front grille similar to that of the new Cadillac XTS, with sharply creased sheetmetal that also recalls the CTS family. The interiors of the development cars seen here are dominated by test gear and safety equipment, but the center console will definitely feature the company’s new CUE touch-screen infotainment system. The Cadillac ATS is expected to be unveiled at the Detroit auto show in January 2012. When it goes on sale later next year, the ATS will be positioned to compete with sport sedans like the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Stay tuned for more teaser videos from Cadillac’s “The Journey” documentary before the ATS makes its debut in January at the Detroit auto show. Source: YouTube [youtube eUTv-GlrMMs]
