Subaru will give fans a behind-the-scenes look at its rallying and rallycross efforts with a new web video series called "Launch Control." The first video, released this week, shows one of Subaru's rally drivers training and its technical partner preparing race cars.
The first episode shows Subaru Rally Team USA's driver David Higgins training and preparing for the first Rally America event of the 2013 season, Michigan's SnoDrift. In interviews, Higgins talks about his family's motorsports history, while his wife reveals how rallying played a role in the couple's courtship.
The clip also features interviews with employees of Vermont Sports Car, which builds both the Rally American and Puma Global RallyCross cars for Subaru. The cars are based on the Impreza WRX STI, but as the video reveals, Vermont Sports Car essentially takes the performance cars down to bare frames before upgrading them for racing use.
