Audi has a knack for rolling out hot RS models based on its sexy Avant station wagons that tantalize us with every photo and video. Take, for example, the 2014 Audi RS6 Avant – no, it's never coming here, and yes, the thunderous V-8 sounds amazing.
The engine in question is an uprated version of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter unit from the S6, S7, and S8. Here, the 4.0-liter is good for at least 552 hp and can power the RS6 from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds. As we can hear in the video below, the V-8 makes monstrous sounds under full throttle, a sweet combination of the turbos spooling up on intake and the deep baritone of the eight-cylinder's exhaust.
We also have a look at Audi's RS6 Avant superwagon in a matte grey paint job – the car looks downright sinister and would be at home as Bruce Wayne's next ride around Gotham City. The matte paint also helps to emphasize the RS6's updated exterior – bright tailpipes, front air dam trim, and Quattro logo all stand out against the dark hue.
If you like the sounds of a sonorous V-8, we highly recommend you check out the video below.
