Feature Flick: Aston Martin and Toyota CEO Swap Race Machines

It’s not unheard of to hear of fellow executives playing a few rounds of golf once away from the office, but trading racecars? You bet. Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda and Aston Martin CEO Ulrich Bez have their off-hours fun on road – not golf – courses, and decided to swap racing machines. For some fun, Bez and Toyoda swapped their race vehicles during the 9th VLN Race Weekend at the Nurburgring. The Aston chief slid behind the wheel of a Toyotda’s Gazoo Racing Lexus LFA, while the Toyota scion took command of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato prototype, which was affectionately known as ‘Zig.’ Both CEOs are knownas gentleman racers of sorts, and have frequently utilized their respective firm’s latest and greatest hardware in competition. Earlier this year, Toyoda took the helm of the same LFA that Bez drove during the 24 Hours of Nurburgring race, and has previously been one of the drivers for the endurance race in past years; Bez, too, has previously raced in the 24 Hours of Nurburgring behind the wheel of Aston Martin’s racecars. Sadly, not everything went entirely to plan. A bump from another racer forced Toyoda into a spin, and sent the Aston into the wall. However, the Aston Martin racing team managed topatch up ‘Zig’ for Toyoda to for a final venture behind the wheel. Check out the video below for all the racing fun.
