A new Guiness World Record has been set for the largest simultaneous car tire burnout, and this Feature Flick documents the momentous and smoke-filled occasion. The record-setting stunt took place at the Canberra Exhibition Park in Australia where 69 cars where more than 10,000 spectators were on hand to witness automotive history being made.
The event, which took about six months to prepare, included an interesting mix of cars. Of course there were plenty of Holdens and classic Chevys, some of which were equipped with drag-ready engines. And on the other end of the spectrum is what appears to be an elderly Toyota Corolla. In all, the 69 cars produced about 35,000 horsepower and burned 138 tires, some of which were specially made to produce colored smoke. Since this was the first time the stunt was attempted, organizers set an initial target of sustaining the burnout for at least 30 seconds and have at least 50 cars succeed. Watch the video to find out what happens.
Not too long ago, a new world record was set for the most simultaneous donuts. That record currently stands at 57 cars doing donuts at the same time.
