Feature Flick: 2015 Porsche Macan Drifting Around the Track

porsche macan video 1

The 2015 Porsche Macan will make its official debut at the 2013 Los Angeles auto show next week, and Porsche has released a video of its small SUV testing on its own Weissach test track in Germany. The 2015 Porsche Macan will slot in below the Porsche Cayenne SUV and looks to provide a sporty driving experience based on this clip, which shows the Macan enthusiastically drifting through the corners with Porsche’s test driver at the helm.

The 2015 Porsche Macan is based on the same platform as the next-generation Audi Q5. Based on the numerous spy shots of undisguised Macans we’ve seen driving around, the styling apes that of the Cayenne with its rounded nose and large headlights. Powertrain choices for the 2015 Porsche Macan are expected to include a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine. The Porsche Macan Turbo will sit at the top of the range, likely with a version of the twin-turbo V-6 engine found in the 2014 Porsche Panamera making around 350 horsepower. Despite what the gratuitous powersliding in this video of the Macan may imply, all-wheel-drive is expected to be standard.

The Porsche Macan will go on sale in early 2014, and Porsche has high hopes for this small crossover. The brand previously announced a $650 million investment to produce the Macan at a plant in Leipzig, Germany, and expects the growing China luxury market to be a big factor in the Macan’s success.

Check out the video below to see the 2015 Porsche Macan in full-out drifting action around the racetrack.
