What would you do if you were handed the keys to a 520-hp 2013 Audi S8? Motor Trend's Arthur St. Antoine went on an adventure on the snow-covered roads of Colorado's Rocky Mountains on the latest episode of Epic Drives.
Starting at Fort Collins Brewery, St. Antoine learns how beer is crafted. After a fuel stop, pro skiers Max Hagetrø Larsen and Charlie Lasser hitch a ride to the top of Breckenridge Mountain where the duo race the S8 to see who can reach the bottom quicker. At 10,200 feet, St. Antoine stops in Leadville -- the highest city in the U.S.
Along the way, St. Antoine extols the virtues of the $126,000 luxury sedan, which boasts a twin-turbo V-8, eight-speed transmission, sure-footed Quattro all-wheel-drive system, and a well-appointed interior. During his drive, St. Antoine also samples some of the local cuisine and learns some of the area's historical mining town secrets as well as a tale about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
