European Fiat 500 Special Editions Celebrate America, Colors, and Maserati

Fiat has had quite the success on its hands with the new 500 hatchback; since launching in 2007, it has sold over 800,000 units in over 100 countries. Now, to celebrate, European buyers will be able to get their hands on three new special edition 500 models: the 500 America, 500 Color Therapy, and Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati. The 500 America celebrates the Cinquecento’s debut in our market, although it isn’t exactly a U.S.-spec 500. Only 500 of the America-edition cars will be produced; hardtop models will be painted in a bright America Blue hue, while 500C convertibles receive a three-layer white paint job and a red soft top. Both cars are decked out with stars & stripes graphics on the mirrors; a red, white, and blue beltline pinstripe; and 16-inch alloy wheels with contrasting cap edging (red on the hardtop and blue on the convertible). All 500 America models are equipped with air conditioning, chrome-plated badges, and a special edition emblem on the B-pillars. Debuting alongside the 500 America is the Fiat 500 Color Therapy. This special edition harks back to the original Cinquecento of the 1960's and 1970s with eye-popping pastel color combinations. All Color Therapy cars will come with white rims and mirror covers and a new "short-fin" radio antenna. Color options will include shades such as Sky Blue, Coffee Cream, and the legendary Yellow Ochre. Finally, Abarth will show off a very exclusive variant of the Fiat 500 Abarth. The Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati celebrates the bond between Fiat's performance arm and its upmarket Maserati sister brand. The 695 will only be available in droptop form, and will be powered a 180-hp, 1.4-liter turbocharged I-4. New 17-inch alloy wheels, which mimic those on the Maserati GranTurismo, hide Brembo brake discs. Hexagonal-shaped exhaust tips cap a dual-mode exhaust system, which gets a bit noisier (and less restrictive) once the engine reaches 3000 rpm. The 695 Tributo Maserati is dressed in a rich, three-layer coat of Pontevecchio Bordeaux with a grey fabric top; inside, the cabin is swathed with sand beige Poltrona Frau leather with grey contrast stitching. The 695 logo is embossed on the headrests, while the dashboard is trimmed with matte grey flocking and black leather. Abarth’s Maserati-themed 500 will be pretty rare, too, as only 499 examples will be produced. All three of the special-edition Fiat 500s will be making their debuts at the Geneva Motor Show next week, but will be available only in Europe.
