Mini E Electric Vehicle

Want to get behind the wheel of an electric Mini? 500 examples of the 2009 Mini E electric vehicle are destined for the U.S., but you'd better be ready to pay $850 a month to lease one.

Though we knew the special batch of electric Minis would be leased to customers in urban settings (mostly the metropolitan Los Angeles and New York City areas), we hadn't heard what participants would pay during the one year lease. Previous reports ballparked the figure at $500 a month, but a Mini spokeswoman told Green Fuels Forecast that the lease prices would indeed be $850 a month. That's certainly a whopping sum, but in reality, it won't even begin to recoup BMW's costs for the project. Lease customers will also receive a wall charger and scheduled "check-ups" at BMW dealers to ensure the vehicle is in proper working order. Source: Green Fuels Forecast
