A couple from the Netherlands is about to embark on a road trip for charity that will take them over 52,000 miles across six continents, all in the name of charity. The vehicle of choice for their two-year journey? The godfather of mass vehicle production, the 1915 Ford Model T.
The Dutch couple, Dirk and Trudy Regter, are planning on setting off from the Netherlands sometime this summer in their 1915 Model T for their trip around the world. Dirk and Trudy plan on driving over 52,817 miles as they crisscross the globe. The couple's route will take them south through Europe, to Africa, across the South Atlantic to the west coast of South America, up through Central America, Mexico, the United States, and then Canada. From there, the adventurous duo plan on making their way to Australia, then China, Mongolia, Siberia, Russia, and finally back to the Netherlands. The only continent the couple won't be hitting is Antarctica.
The journey is all in an effort to raise money for the children's charity, SOS Children's Villages. Though likely to be a grueling journey, the couple is experienced; Dirk previously made a trip from Beijing to Paris in the same Model T back in 2007.
The couple expects their journey in their 1915 Model T to take up to two years. You can follow their progress and donate to the cause here.
